生石高原（おいしこうげん）は、和歌山県有田川町と紀美野町の境界に広がる高原で、
標高約 870m に位置します。

関西屈指のススキ群生地として知られ、
秋には高原一帯が黄金色に染まる、圧倒的なスケール感を持つロケーションです。

生石高原の名の由来である「生石（おいし）」は、古くから神が宿る石・霊石として信仰されてきました。

高原の一角に鎮座する生石神社は、
平安時代以前（9世紀頃）にはすでに信仰が存在していたとされ、山岳信仰・自然信仰を色濃く残す神社です。

この地では、
山・風・霧・草原といった自然現象そのものが神聖視され、
「目に見えない力と人が交わる境界」として扱われてきました。

生石高原は単なる原野ではなく、人が畏れと敬意をもって関わる“半神域的な土地”だったのです。
